At The Elemental Garden, we think of ourselves as purveyors of beautiful objects, always in search of essential elements to transform your surroundings. Decorators, designers and architects look to us as a unique source of authentic garden antiques, bold furnishings, unusual decorative accessories, and whimsical objects--all with a strong architectural aesthetic. As specialists in English and French garden antiques of the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries, we carry no reproductions. Because of this, our stock is ever-changing. We travel frequently to England and Europe in search of fresh pieces to inspire and pique your imagination. Our aim is to provide the very best examples of period garden ornament, from rustic to formal, at a wide range of price points. All that and much more.
Our clients understand the beauty and wonder of owning a piece of history...one-of-a-kind originals ...objects with souls, brought from another continent and another place and time. Pieces hand-crafted and loved by people long-gone...time-worn surfaces and forms that tell a story of past owners, from grand estates to cottage gardens, and lives not forgotten.
Inspired by our tours of the great gardens of Britain and France, we have chosen to concentrate in English and French garden antiques because of their universal appeal, their versatility in all types of gardens, their bold architectural lines, and their wonderful weathered surfaces. Now in our 12th year, we are the largest importers of authentic English and French garden antiques in the United States.
Although we are known internationally as dealers in fine garden antiques, we intermingle our ever-changing stock of urns, statuary, fountains, birdbaths, sundials, armillaries, troughs, and garden furniture with 19th and early 20th century furniture, mostly French, and a beautiful assortment of fine antique paintings, prints, mirrors, lighting, brass & copper planters, and vintage English gardening tools. We also have a wonderful collection of antique and vintage gas lanterns--mostly copper and bronze--that we have restored and electrified for indoor or outdoor use.
Visitors to the shop describe it as whimsical, fun, surprising, beautiful, and evocative, even to the most practiced eye. Home to more than 3500 square feet of indoor room displays in our circa 1740 home and barn, The Elemental Garden extends to an acre of manicured and informal gardens to showcase our garden design and decoration capability. Come enjoy a stroll around the grounds that include the front parterre, the boxwood herb garden, the azalea garden, the shade borders, the potager, the millstone parterre, and the privet room.
Our mission is to fulfill your design dreams, no matter how large or small. We work closely with a wide range of clients, from experienced designers to collectors to private clients, to ensure that the pieces they select are exactly what they need, want and will cherish for years to come. If we don't have what you're looking for in stock, we will do our best to find it. We will also teach you to properly choose and care for your garden antiques so that they bring you many decades of enjoyment and appreciation. More than 80 percent of our clients return to buy again and we actively cultivate a long-lasting relationship built on trust, expertise and satisfaction.
